Reliability assessment of the electrical networks is an important tool to evaluate the networks performance and to justify any need of upgrading or modification. The reliability assessment state the power interruption frequencies and annual interruption cost by means of several indices such as SAIFI, SAIDI, CAIDI. These indices describe the impact of the interruptions on the customers as well as the financial impact on the power company.

The classical method of obtaining the reliability indices is by using the indices mathematical equations and calculate the results. Generally the network annual interruption data entered in Microsoft Excel sheets to calculate the reliability indices. However, this method takes lots of time from the asset management engineers and may lead some time to errors due to human mistakes. In addition, without using simulation software to simulate the failures and the interruptions, indicating the interruption location and the network failure elements will be difficult. Moreover, monitoring the load flow in the network during the interruptions will be not available.
